The Council of State

The Council of State gives its opinion on the draft laws and ordinances submitted by the Prince.

The Council of State currently consists of the secretaries of state who serve as Vicar General of the Princely Abbey and of other members appointed by the Sovereign. Its main function is advisory: it gives its opinion on the draft laws and ordinances submitted to it for examination by the Prince. It may also be consulted on any other project. Its organisation and operation are laid down by a specific Sovereign Ordinance.

On 1 December 2025, H.E. Najib Kettani, Minister of State and former Director of the Cabinet, was appointed Vice-President, with the task of organising the Inter-religious Economic Conference.
